Professor Eweda obtained his Bachelor of Architectural Engineering in 1969 from Faculty of Engineering, Cairo University and completed his Master of Science in Architecture from the same university in 1974. In 1979, Professor Eweda completed his Ph.D. in Architecture from faculty of Fine Arts and Science at University of Pennsylvania United States of America.
In 1969, Dr. Eweda embarked on his educational journey in the field of architecture at Cairo University, Egypt. There, he earned his Bachelor of Architectural Engineering degree from the Faculty of Engineering, graduating with a very good grade and an honor degree. His scholarly journey didn't stop there. In 1974, he pursued a Master of Science in Architecture at the same university, diving deeper into architectural theories and design strategies. His research during this period was titled "Design Principals of Low-Cost Housing in Egypt," focusing on the development of affordable housing solutions. He then expanded his horizons further by relocating to the United States for his doctoral studies. At the University of Pennsylvania, he became part of the esteemed Faculty of Fine Arts and Science, earning his Doctor of Philosophy in Architecture in 1979. His Ph.D. research was titled "Major Factors in Determining Box Units," demonstrating his continued interest in architectural design and theory.
Dr. Eweda's illustrious career in academia started at Cairo University in Giza, Egypt, immediately following his bachelor's degree. From 1969 to 1974, he served as a Demonstrator in the Department of Architecture at the Faculty of Engineering. This period of foundational experience and after completing his masters degree he was promoted to an Assistant Lecturer in 1974, a position he held until 1976. From 1976 to 1979, he was selected to be a part of Cairo University's mission in the United States of America, where he pursued his Doctor of Philosophy in Architecture. Upon his return to Egypt in 1980, he resumed his career at Cairo University as a Lecturer in the Department of Architecture, holding this role until 1985. He then advanced to an Associate Professor of Architecture, a position he maintained from 1985 to 1989. His growth continued, and from 1990 to 2007, he was a full Professor of Architecture and Building Technology in the same department. In 2008, he took his expertise internationally to King Saud University in Riyadh, KSA, where he served as a Professor of Architecture in the Faculty of Architecture until 2015. After his tenure in Saudi Arabia, he returned to his alma mater, Cairo University, where he continues to serve as a Professor Emeritus of Architecture and Building Technology from 2015 to the present day. His memberships extend to the Supreme Engineers Association, where he contributes to shaping the engineering profession on a national level. In the cultural realm, Dr. Eweda is a member of the Culture Foundation and the Supreme Pioneers Association, organizations dedicated to preserving and promoting cultural heritage. His expertise in architecture is further recognized through his membership in the Supreme Council of Culture, specifically serving on the Architecture Committee, where he contributes to decision-making processes related to architectural policy and practices. In 2007, his department at the Faculty of Engineering, Cairo University was nominated for the State Incentive Prize, a testament to his and his colleagues' efforts towards advancing architectural engineering. Dr. Eweda also received National recognition with the Red Crescent Shield from Mrs. Suzanne Mubarak, the wife of the President, in recognition of his efforts to develop the distinctive Red Crescent Hospital. Further acknowledging his commitment to institutional development, he was awarded Cairo University’s Shield for his role in the development of building facilities at the university. Lastly, his professional contributions were recognized by his peers through the Excellence Award and Shield from the Engineers Association in Giza.
